They may find that their home security system is still mostly functional. The system uses a ZigBee-based protocol to communicate and operate over the 2.4 GHz radio frequency band. In the Ring app, tap Menu, then tap Set Up a Device, then tap Security Devices, then tap Keypads, and tap Keypad.
Follow the in-app instructions to complete setup. Choose a convenient location so you can arm and disarm easily as you come and go. You can rest the Keypad on a flat surface or install it on a wall with the bracket and screws provided. All you have to do is push the stay button to turn it on in stain loads. This mode leaves your motion off and turns your doors and windows.
What does silent arming mean?
The installers also updated my touchscreen security panel -- the Xfinity Home Station -- to what customers would have in their homes today. The Keypad has a proximity sensor that senses when you are within six inches. When the Keypad wakes up, the LED indicators at the top and bottom of the Keypad will flash the status color. The Lock button will illuminate in the status color. Later after spending several days I realized that it’s not FULLY paired although it’s showing up on the ST devices.
To activate another mode, tap the icon for Stay or Night. To pair Xfinity XHK1 keypad, add a thing on ST only AFTER the keypad is in pairing mode . If the keypad is paired correctly, you should see a solid green signal light (i.e. antenna light on the bottom left) when you press any key. Pressing the speaker icon in center bottom will make keypad beep.
What is stay mode?
There's a whole list of voice commands to control your smart home, view your camera feeds and find your keys or other stuff if you have a Tile tracker. It is particularly handy for turning off lights or adjusting your room temperature without getting off the couch or opening the app. Like the xFi integration, it's nice if you have Xfinity TV or are considering it along with Xfinity Home, but not a necessity. On the Select Arm State screen, Away mode is already selected.
At the heart of the system at home is the Xfinity Home Station. Designed by Comcast, it has a better display and processing power than its predecessor for smoother, more responsive performance. As I popped through menus and settings, I noticed considerably less lag than the one I had used. Picture quality from the cameras is also improved, making it easier to keep an eye on things without looking at my phone. The Home Station has a 4G cellular radio and a backup battery, just in case my power and internet go down.
What is the difference between ARM stay and arm away?
Difference is that with armed instant mode. The entry exit zones are completely avoided meaning like if your front doors. You can always check your keypad an indicator lights to see if the system is right arm. Green light means ready a red light under armed means the system is armed.
Shut and lock all of the doors in your home. The Door Chime signals when a door with a Sensor is opened or closed. Press and hold the 8 button until you get a confirmation beep (~2 seconds) to toggle the chime on or off. You can verify that the chime is enabled/disabled by opening and closing a Sensor-equipped door. ONLY NOW put the SmartThings hub in pairing more by adding a new thing. This step is very important and made a difference for me.
Armed Stay is designed for when you plan on arming the system and staying in the home. Armed Away is for when you plan on arming the system and leaving the home. Arming in the Away Mode will not automatically bypass any sensors, and the entire system, including motion sensors will be armed. “Armed Stay” will arm all of your sensors except for the motion sensors.
I’ve been using ST and reading the community posts for years. I created this account to give back to the community a little bit. Feel free to uninstall SmartThings and reinstall at any time. You will know keypad is paired by clicking Smartthings Classic, My Home, Xfinity XHK1-UE, Right Now, and seeing an interface.
Pressing the circle arrow icon will turn the keypad off. Does anyone happen to have a user manual for this keypad? I can’t figure out how to put it into pairing mode. The only difference is that any Interior Zones with the Arm Night setting enabled will not be bypassed when the system is set to Arm Night mode.
On SmartThings Classic app, My Home, Things, press the top right plus sign, Add a Thing, and wait for pairing to occur. I have this working with the SHM Delay Version 2.0 smartapp. Arm Stay is for when you are at home and awake. Security features are activated as in Arm Away, but Motion Sensors are not (so you don’t trip the alarm while you’re in the house). Press the button for the Armed mode you want to activate. Don't worry, this sounds complicated but it's just a simple browser setting.
This is the arming mode you should use when remaining inside your home to avoid setting off the alarm with one of your motion sensors. Armed Away is the arming mode you should use when leaving the home. To reiterate, you do not need Xfinity TV or internet service to get Xfinity Home.
I bought one of these keypads on ebay not realizing that there weren’t any free device handlers currently available. The difference between Arm Stay and Arm Instant is that the system will ignore all Entry Delay settings when it is set to Arm Instant. In other words, any zone that would normally trigger an Entry Delay countdown will instead cause an instant system alarm.
Please note that you will only see the Arm Night option if you have at least one sensor with the Arm Night option enabled. The Exit Delay tone sounds and accelerates during the final 10 seconds of the delay. You can add Comcast's Zen thermostat to your Home setup.
